List Monday

Last year's leaves were dull and colorless but, this year's are amazing with their deep hues. The 2 hour drive to pick up a new work truck, for my husband's contracting business, was especially enjoyable with the warm temperatures and beautiful blue sky. Supposably a warm period during fall will lower the intensity of autumn colors. A warm wet spring, favorable summer weather, and warm sunny fall days with cool nights should produce the most brilliant autumn colors.  Do you feel it has been especially cool here in Pennsylvania?  The recent nights have been below 40° and even into the 30s here in the PA Wilds. So perhaps.

"October is the month of painted leaves. Their rich glow now flashes round the world. As fruits and leaves and the day itself acquire a bright tint just before they fall, so the year near its setting. October is its sunset sky; November the later twilight"

By Henry David Thoreau
