Attended Recent Class on Digital Marketing

The Wilds Cooperative of PA has been offering free online and in person classes as well as wonderfully informative webinars and meet-ups, throughout the PA WildsDigital Marketing for Rural Businesses was a recent in person class that our 3 person traveling band of creatives took.  Our small clutch of talented women started adventuring through the Wilds region this past April, when we carpooled to the Covation Center in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, We joined 9 entrepreneurs which kicked  off the 2022 PA Wilds PACE Program.  It became our thing!  Julie is a mixed media artist/teacher, Lisa makes hand built pottery in a whimsical way and I am a mixed media/jewelry/fiber artisan.

Strikhedonia (n)

Origin: Greek

The joy of being able to say “to hell with it”.

No matter how busy we are in our studios we have started to just pick up and head out to more of these in person classes or meet-ups.  The Greek word Strikhedonia seems very appropriate!

The teams could go anywhere to work on the floor that is the PA Wilds Media Lab, located at Six & Kane, a passive house We choose the photo booth.  Look at that stunning real bark wall!  I feel that we had the best space.

During this workshop we were instructed to photograph like we were promoting a product. Dividing up into 3 groups of 3 our team was given a hat. One of my flatlay style shots was a natural go-to and the other was in a looser style.

The 3 of us choose one of our photos to have critiqued by the class and instructor.  I choose this one and it was well received for many reasons.  One of them was for the arrangement in a natural setting where the product could be found the other was that the hat was showcased well.

Another task, later in the workshop, was shooting a video featuring the PA Wilds Discovery Atlas.  Casey executive director of Warren County Visitor Bureau, was our actor and Ashley, Community Connector Keyholder for the PA Wilds, shot the video as well as pieced the mini shots together.  They both did an amazing job!

This workshop was to help WCO members level up their photography, video and online presence enabling us to reach more customers through our participation in this workshop with Stratos Media & Marketing Solutions.  There was also a virtual option.

The class was designed specifically for entrepreneurs in the Wilds Cooperative of Pennsylvania.  We were offered tips for taking better photos + videos, tools to strengthen our messaging and then there was a Q&A session with a digital marketing expert.  I learned more about photography terms and the process plus downloaded a great video editing app called YouCut which is actually the app we used for the video.  I have not had a chance to play around with it since the class but, plan on using it for social media fun!

It was an awesome day!
