Purchase

My lampwork adventure has begun!!! I just ordered a fantastic book from Corina of www.corinabeads.com Such an informative book, nicely told by this talented lampwork artist. I am starting out with both torches HH and the oxygen while we have the money and then the next purchase will be a good bead kiln. Does anyone have any kiln preferences? Posted by Picasa

Wow! good for you. I wanted to try that but Hubby voted 'nay'. In all fairness, I've got so many hobbies now.....so no complaining here. I'll admire your creations. Do you ever watch Crafters across America on HGTV? I've seen some great stuff and some not-so-great creations but its always fun to see what people are up to.
Yes, I do watch CCtoC. I couple months back I was almost on for my ArtDolls, wire sculptures or brooches. I am too, too far from any major cities. They had me looking for a house to film in too. There is always the next time.

My DH was the one who got hooked on lampwork bead making. I just collect 'em 'cause I won't let him sell them. Yet. LOL! He got a Paragon bead kiln with a flap door for the beads to go in. Works great. Don't forget to get the digital controller - very important! Manual controllers just don't cut it for beads. You can also use the kiln for PMC, enamelling, glass fusing etc. though pieces have to be small enough to fit inside. Have fun with your hot glass!
