We had a WW2 Day of Remembering
at the:
Johnsonburg Community Center
600 Market Street
on the corner of Bridge and Market off of Rt. 219
Saturday May 24th
12noon-6:30

Johnsonburg Community Hall activities:
Hall will be open and feature displays such as, photos, memorabilia, military items, home front displays of fads and fashions as well as music and entertainment of the era from local aficionados and veterans.
In the gymnasium, 1st floor

USO Canteen in the Coffee House of the 1st floor:
will have hostesses serving lunch and goodies

Flemish House Art Gallery
Art of the time featuring Neo-romanticism on display
w/ a meet the artist, gallery open house and artist demo with shop open.

ALSO:
JASD students power point project about WW2
Veterans and families will be in the hall to greet friends and community

SCHEDULE:
12noon to 3:30 pm- reception for families and veterans in hall----

12noon to 3:30 a sit down lunch from the USO canteen with faves of the military and home front

tickets at door for the Canteen!

Menu
3 meals to choose from including:
SOS, Sloppy Jo or Hot Dog w/ potato or macaroni salad along with a special dessert of your choice
WW2 Veterans provided with a complimentary meal

3:30 to 6:30
Hall remains open with displays and entertainment
USO will be open with baked goodies, snack and drinks

This was a phenomenal gathering and we are going to continue the event on Memorial Day each and every year. Next year we are going to feature another war and is now in the planning stages.
