Sunday Vibes

Like most Sundays today was spent with my husband.  He and I did start retrieving architectural salvage, along with volunteers of the Johnsonburg Community Trust, at the original Larson Hardware Store.  This structure was built circa 1920 with a lot of the same architectural details as the Armstrong Real Estate and Improvement Company's Brick Block est.1890.  The Trust is removing the original Larson Hardware store shelving, tin ceilings and trim w/bullseye rosettes.  The building is due to be tore down around the beginning of May. It is incredibly sad to lose another historic commercial building in Johnsonburg.

Around 1:00 we headed home to tend to the dog before taking a drive towards Clarion, PA.  Our goal was to enjoy the beautiful sunshine day and stop at Cozumel Mexican Restaurant for some delicious spicy dishes.  We asked for freshly cut jalapeno slices to add to our Cozumel Fajitas w/shrimp, chicken & steak. This is the third time we had stopped in for dinner over the years but, had not been there for over 5 years or so.  The food was still as good, maybe even better.

1940s hand painted slipware Purinton Pottery, the open apple pattern

Aldi's for groceries and then home through Shippenville which is the home of Purinton Pottery, 1936-1959.  I wish we would have made it to Clarion Mall Antiques but, it was a Sunday and after 5:00.  This antique shop is actually in Shippenville and has a great selection of this now defunct factory's pottery. When we moved into our home in March of 1990 there were multiple pieces of this pattern in the attic.  I have continued to add to my collection of this found open apple pattern ever since.  Purinton was marketed to women who wanted “to give a note of informal color to a room or table, either at parties or within the family circle.”
I love that thought!

It was a good day <3

enjoy, take care-

Stephanie
